Thermafiber products contribute to 33 LEED® credits across 4 categories
At Thermafiber, higher recycled content in our mineral wool tells just part of our green story. With recycled content of 90%, 84%, 75% or 70%, our products contribute to 33 LEED credits across 4 categories.

Energy & Atmosphere Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance
Thermafiber mineral wool helps to minimize the amount of energy needed to heat and cool a building, resulting in reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Materials & Resources Credits 2.1 & 2.2: Construction Waste Management
Thermafiber insulation products can be diverted from the waste stream by removing undamaged material and re-installing it in new projects.
Materials & Resources Credits 3.1 & 3.2: Materials Reuse
Thermafiber insulation can be removed from demolition projects and reused in new construction.
Materials & Resources Credits 4.1 & 4.2: Recycled Materials
With up to 90% recycled content, Thermafiber offers the highest recycled content of any glass fiber or mineral wool insulation.
Materials & Resources Credits 5.1 & 5.2: Regional Materials
Thermafiber’s strategic location in Indiana places it within 500 miles of major cities throughout the Midwest and eastern United States, including Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Nashville, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

Indoor Environmental Quality Credits 3.1 & 3.2: Construction Indoor Air Quality, Management Plan During Construction
Thermafiber products have been evaluated by a third party independent laboratory to certify that emissions are below containment concentration thresholds established by LEED.
Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 9: Enhanced Acoustical Performance
Thermafiber sound attenuation products absorb sound passing between partition walls and floor/ceiling applications. In wall assemblies, our products help provide sound transmission coefficients (STCs) that improve indoor environmental quality.
Innovation in Design Credit 1:
Thermafiber products allow LEED design teams the opportunity to achieve exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED rating system. Thermafiber products offer superior acoustical and fire performance characteristics that are not specifically addressed by the LEED rating system.
Thermafiber has contributed LEED credits to several high-profile projects, including the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. (Silver LEED rating) and Bank of America in New York City (seeking Platinum LEED rating).
